Publishers:

Tim CarterTim Carter - Publisher, Photographer & Advertising Sales • Tim, as one of the publishers, strives to increase consciousness about green building through interesting presentations. Being a contractor and working in the building industry as a salesman, he has great insight into reaching this goal. Tim has been a photographer for 25 years, and specializes now in architectural and product images. He shoots stock photography of quality images that make up Grand County, and has a large format printer which can produce giclée prints. Tim maintains a healthy, active lifestyle by bicycling, hiking, kayaking, alpine, cross country & backcountry skiing.

Tina WilsonTina Wilson - Publisher, Editor & Designer • Tina brings a variety of experience to the magazine, including Graphic Design, Marketing and Advertising, acquired from different jobs in the field over the past 30 years. Along with Tim Carter, they started the magazine four years ago. She has been involved with raising public awareness about recycling, building green, and healthy lifestyles. The owner of FIrebird DesignWorks in Granby, she combines her skills offering marketing, advertising, print and web design for clients. Tina leads a healthy, active lifestyle by bicycling, hiking, kayaking, alpine, cross country & backcountry skiing.

Lisa BornfriendLisa Bornfriend - Designer, Proofreader, & WebMaster • After falling in love with the area visiting friends, Lisa moved to Grand County from Tennessee in 2007. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design and currently works for Firebird DesignWorks in Granby. Lisa enjoys her free time by hiking, mountain biking, fly fishing, playing disc golf, cross country skiing, and snow shoeing, and plans on adding snowboarding to the list next winter.

Silke ReuthlingerSilke Reuthlinger - Art Director & Designer • Silke Reuthlinger grew up in Germany, and came to the U.S. in 1988 for an adventure in a foreign country, which still continues on, 20 years later. She went to the Art Institute in Colorado and graduated in 1997 with an Associates Degree in Visual Communications. She has worked with 2 national magazines and now, self-employed as a Graphic Designer designs magazines and marketing materials for businesses. In her spare time she enjoys Colorado's playground by hiking, biking, skiing, boarding and always loves to try new things.

 


Writers:

Kelly BastoneKelly Bastone • A freelancer specializing in outdoor sports and travel, Kelly believes that an area’s homes say plenty about its character. “Every house conveys not just its owner’s personality, but the town’s as well,” says Bastone, who hails from Steamboat Springs. An avid skier and mountain biker, Kelly writes for publications such as National Geographic Traveler, Runner’s World, Backpacker, 5280, and Sunset.

Joan ChristensenJoan Christensen • Joan Christensen has been a resident of Grand County for more than 20 years. She was the Communications Director for Winter Park Resort for 15 years and currently operates JC Communications, a local public relations company specializing in ski industry and travel PR. She has been an associate member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) since 1996 & belongs to the North American Snowsports Journalists Association (NASJA) where she received the Bob Gillen Memorial Award for Excellence in Media Relations in 2005. She is an avid skier, snowboarder, sailor, and hiker.

Janet DayJanet Day • Janet has more than 25 years of journalism coverage of all varieties, from writing food and travel articles, to managing coverage of the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center in New York. She was a news reporter in Tennessee and Colorado before becoming an editor at the Denver Post, where she was a member of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize-winning team that covered the Columbine High School shootings. The next year, she moved from Denver to Manhatten to join Bloomberg News Service where she managed much of Bloomberg’s coverage of the terrorist attack. In 2003, decidedly done with disasters, Janet returned to Colorado to set up a writing, editing and marketing consulting business, Day Dream Communications. She can be found snowboarding at Winter Park Resort, hiking the Rockies with her dogs or pursuing her strong passion for textile arts.

Nathan DellNathan Dell • Nate is a Kremmling native and a graduate of Colorado State University. He worked his way through school building log houses and leading wilderness llama treks. After that, he lived with his wife Rachelle and his daughter Natalia in the Ecuadorian rainforest with an indigenous tribe called the Waorani. Nate taught carpentry and construction techniques using sustainably harvested tropical hardwoods while travelling by trail and canoe around Waorani territory. His next adventure involves taking others to developing nations with the Evangelical mission organization, HCJB Global, to experience unique cultures and community development first hand.

Carly FullerCarly Fuller • A transplant from the Midwest, Carly is a freelance journalist who has written about international travel and motivation in the business world. She often explores the world around her through fictional writing, particularly intrigued by familial ties across cultures. She has also written articles for the Banking Industry. A University of Denver graduate, Carly resides in Grand County where she is working on her first novel.


Cindy HarderCindy Harder
• Cindy Harder has lived in Grand County for 18 years and enjoys horseback riding, hiking and snowboarding. She likes to travel and a lifelong dream is to retire with a living-quarters horse trailer and ride the National Parks. Cindy is a freelance writer in Grand County and the Marketing Director at Beaver Village Condominiums in Winter Park.

 

Cindy KlehCindy Kleh • Cindy has lived in the Colorado Rocky Mountains for the past 23 years, and does freelance photography and writing for several magazines and newspapers. She stays active biking, hiking, and skateboarding, but her winters are devoted to competitive snowboarding. She is currently the USASA Overall (GS, Slalom, Superpipe, Slopestyle and Boardercross) National Champion for women 40-49, and the national alpine champion 4 years in a row. Cindy has lived in Grand County for over 4 years, recording the morning snow report each season as the Snow Goddess of Winter Park.

Kristen LodgeKristen Lodge • Kristen is the Marketing Director at Destinations West and loves to write articles about art and outdoor adventures in the Rocky Mountains. She blogs about hiking and skiing for the Grand County online newspaper. Kristen received a BA in English at the University of New Hampshire, and has lived in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Killington, Vermont, Sunday River, Maine, and Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Kristen is an avid hiker, triathlete, and skier and is training for Ironman Coeur d’Alene 2009. Kristen lives in Granby, Colorado with her dogs Abbey and Daisy.

Andrew MillerAndrew Miller • Andrew is an innovative builder who’s construction company - M3 Property Service - utilizes locally harvested beetle killed pine for paneling, framing material and structural beams, milling all this on his portable sawmill. Andrew designed and built the High Lonesome Hut, an off-the-grid hike and ski-to public cabin. He designed and built his first passive solar home in 1978, utilizing materials salvaged from the Winter Park Railroad Station. Miller served as Political Editor for the Winter Park Manifest. He is the Planning Director for the Fraser Valley Partnership for Trails and Construction Manager for the Grand Huts Association, two local non-profits.

Stephanie MillerStephanie Miller • Stephanie Miller is a freelance writer whose articles have appeared in the Sky Hi Daily News and the Winter Park Manifest. She has lived in Grand County for six years and is active in backcountry and resort skiing, trail running, mountain biking, and rafting. Stephanie currently resides in Tabernash, and is the Adult Services Librarian at Fraser Valley Library.


Cyril VidergarCyril Vidergar
• Cyril is a regular contributor to GCL, a former Assistant Grand County Attorney, and a continual explorer of Grand County’s backcountry. He has written on law and technology for the American Bar Association and national law journals; on bio-mass fuels and pine beetles; and on classic philosophy in professional life. Cyril has advised citizen and homeowners associations, and currently practices special district law as a private attorney. If you care to chat him up on green development, just look for the gold Colnago bicycle chugging through RMNP on weekends.

Karen WaeschleKaren Waeschle • Karen is a 16 year Fraser resident who pursues her passion for outdoor adventures as much as three active children will allow. Her favorite training pal, Skip, helps motivate her to get out there and play everyday. She also feels compelled to make Grand County a better place by volunteering in the schools, with the Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District, and by coaching youth soccer, Nordic skiing and swimming.
