MUNN ARCHITECTURE
Designing Structures with Heart

Architect Scott Munn, AIA, knows that his design studio thrives on relationships. The process of designing a custom home not only requires a basic understanding of the personalities and relationships of the humans and pets that will inhabit it; it also requires trusting and collaborative interactions. Munn and his staff strive to understand the clients’ needs, passions and budgets completely in order to design the structure that the user envisions.

Great relationships happen when there is a sense of teamwork, innovation and fun. “We love the challenges presented by the needs of the individual balanced with the requirements of a place,” says Munn, who started his Granby-based firm in 2007. “Munn Architecture also believes that the design process does not have to be stressful nor worrisome. Our team is comprised of many different personalities, but our collective ethos is grounded in good living with a dash of humor.”

Munn Architecture specializes in residential, commercial, resort and civic design, as well as planning. They also provide full interior design services, and are experts in all type of additions and remodels.

Building For a Better Future
One commitment of Munn Architecture – only strengthened since the birth of Munn’s daughter two years ago – is maximizing energy performance in homes. Buildings consume a great amount of energy, often postponing energy solutions for future generations.

Munn Architecture adopted the American Institute of Architect’s “Architecture 2030 Challenge”– a pledge to increase building efficiency in increments every five years and place emphasis on the life-cycle costs of buildings. The end goal is to have designs yield carbon-neutral buildings by 2030. These targets may be accomplished by “implementing innovative sustainable design strategies, generating on-site renewable power and/or purchasing renewable energy,” according to architecture2030.org.

“The technology to achieve the 2030 goal exists right now,” explains Munn. “Energy-efficient materials and practices are becoming more affordable to individual homeowners, and architects are in a position to guide them to understanding the best investments for the long-term.”
