Beautiful scenery, world-class downhill and cross-country skiing, great restaurants, friendly locals – Grand County has everything, including the perfect complement to a great day in the great outdoors – the Grand County Concert Series. In 1980, Joyce Engel and a few friends decided to bring more music here, and in 2004, the concert board began to focus exclusively on classical music. The concert series has featured some wonderful artists in past years, and this season is no exception! Starting in January, there are six fantastic concerts from which to choose.

How does our rural county attract such great talent? It’s easy when you invite them to play in paradise. Most of our artists want to come back in spite of the performance challenges at 9,000 feet above sea level. Grand County welcomes them so warmly they forget about the cold! Just ask Marcel and Elizabeth Bergmann from Canada – duo pianists who have performed all over the world. What makes them perform at the Church of the Eternal Hills in Tabernash again and again?

“Coming to Grand County is like coming home for us,” say the Bergmanns. “We’ve met so many wonderful people here – people who have become dear friends. We couldn’t ask for more appreciative audiences! No matter what time of year we come, we can enjoy ourselves hiking, skiing, and of course, partying.”

One of the best things about the concert series is our venue. Compared to many concert halls, the Church of the Eternal Hills provides an intimate setting. You can sit close to the artists, the acoustics are near perfect, and you feel surrounded by friends.

This Season Brings Some New And Exciting Artists To Town:
• In January, Tao Lin will wow our audience with a virtuoso piano performance. He has performed in Asia, North America, and Europe. 1/13/12
• February will bring the Zodiac Trio to town. This awe-inspiring young trio of clarinet, piano, and violin hails from Manhattan and will spend the day in our local schools inspiring students with their music. 2/10/12
• In March, a new trio of high-profile classical musicians (piano, violin, and cello) from the Denver area will join us. The Hwang-Ainomae-Hsu Piano Trio has played all over the world. 3/9/12
• In April, the Tesla Quartet – a string quartet consisting of violins, viola, and cello will perform. This quartet formed at The Juilliard School in 2008 and currently holds a fellowship at the
University of Colorado-Boulder, where they study with the world-renowned Takacs Quartet. 4/13/12
• Summer will bring two concerts – soaring choral music with the Ars Nova Singers, and returning by popular demand – the Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado. 6/15 & 6/29/12
