GREEN PARADE: RECYCLING OPPORTUNITIES IN GRAND COUNTY
By Cindy Kleh
Save up your bottles, newspapers, cans and even construction waste ... and recycle for a sustainable future.
Valley Recycling provides bins for Infinite West and Grand Resource and Recycle Coalition (GRRC)’s weekly recycling event on Saturdays from 9 am-1 pm in the Ace Hardware parking lot in Granby.
In addition to providing the space for GRRC’s recycling day in their Granby location parking lot, Ace Hardware in Granby and Fraser also recycle thermostats, compact fluorescent bulbs and rechargeable batteries.
Valley Recycling also offers free recycling at their shop located just west of Parshall across the railroad tracks. Shop hours are 9 am-4 pm Monday – Friday and 9 am-1 pm on Saturdays.
Rocky Mountain Re-Source & Re-Use Center (RMRRC) is kind of a “thrift store” for almost any kind of construction materials. Instead of paying to put it in a landfill ($50 per truckload), RMRRC will pick up and resell items that may be outdated but still work.
Grand E Cycle takes electronics and computers at the Granby Transfer Center (the old county landfill off of Hwy 125).
Kopy Kat Office recycles ink cartridges, packing peanuts and bubble wrap at their Granby and Winter Park locations.
Radio Shack in Fraser offers free recycling of rechargeable batteries, cell phone batteries, cell phones and ink cartridges.
Carquest Auto and Napa Auto Parts take used automotive equipment and batteries, and scrap metal.
Waste Management customers can find a free drop-off for their recyclable items in Hot Sulphur Springs at 321 East Byers Avenue.
The Trash Company offers their customers free recycling at their Granby Transfer Center at 723 County Road 612 (site of the old landfill).
Curbside Recycling picks up unsorted recyclables at your home or business every other week for a small monthly fee.
